Color inspiration: Blushing pink meets mint

After my As white as wood post of this weekend, I think it's time for some color.
I found this beautiful flower palette you can see on the first picture and amplified it with matching pictures of accessories and interior. This mint-pink-white palette is an inspiration to some romantic influences in your home.
And what's better than pastels when it comes to adding a little romance to your place?
Not over the top pastel, but subtle.
Pink and mint accessories combined with white give you a fresh, vintage and romantic look.

As White as wood

In As white as wood I'm looking for white, but not for white. I search for white with a touch of wood, paper or a flinch of gray and silver. It's serene, calming and somehow colorful.

I wouldn't apply the complete white to every space in my house, because I think I would get the feeling I should wear gloves all day and I wouldn't dare drinking wine on the couch anymore. I would walk around with a cleaning cloth all day trying to keep everything as white as it's suppose to stay.

But still, I'm inspired and I love pictures of people who have applied the white and are able to keep it that way. Luckily for me there are a lot of wonderful people who can. That's why 'As white as wood' a recurring topic and is showing you different rooms in the house in this inspiring style. A different kitchen, bathroom, study, living room or other places in every 'As white as wood'
Enjoy this episode of the ride of the white..!

Don´t worry, be happy - No. 8

Eat it, and enjoy

Lessons are taught every day. Lessons are learned on occasion…
Not everyone likes to be taught a lesson, not every lesson is learned. Every person can tell you to enjoy life, to seize the day, to follow your heart and that it is as it is. But do you listen? Do you have those lessons in mind when you wake up at six in the morning by your alarm on a gray and rainy day, and open your eyes to go to work again? When everything that can go wrong on one day goes completely wrong? When you seem to have lost that happy-feeling for a while?

Well I don’t, so I need to be reminded every once in a while. Call me stubborn, but I need it. Every time a life-lesson is taught to you, you think ‘yes, I know…’, but you do smile a little just because you know it’s true. And that message sticks with you for a while.
So to make you smile, to let you say ‘I know…’ and to let a lesson stick with you for a while, I thought it would be nice to send out a reminder every once in a while. For myself, because it helps, and for anyone who needs a reminder too.

DIY: Vintage memo board

As mentioned in my Flower Power post I have been working on a vintage memo board.
It´s actually a Ikea hack as well. I´ve turned the simple gray SPONTAN magnetic board into a beautiful music sheets memo board.

Want to try it too? Here's a tutorial on how I did it:

How to survive ánd enjoy the UEFA Euro 2012..!

The European Championship 2012 started today! All of Europe is glued to the tube, flags are raised, beer sales are up, people are enthusiastic and ninety percent of the European men feel united and happy this month. At least, as long as their team is winning and still in the race.

Holland is turning orange and tickets to watch the game on public squares and in cafés go like hot cakes. This is what my country looks like at the moment:

As white as wood

I´m inspired by the combination of a lot of white with a little wood and I love the complete white with a touch of brown paper or a flinch of gray or silver. It's serene, calming and somehow colorful.

I wouldn't apply it to every space in my house, because I think I would get the feeling I should wear gloves all day and I wouldn't dare drinking wine on the couch anymore. I would walk around with a cleaning cloth all day trying to keep everything as white as it's suppose to stay.

How to give your Ikea pendant a makeover..?

I have (like probably half of the people on this planet) the simple, yet charming IKEA Regolit pendant lamp shade.

Sure, there are a lot of shops that provide a version of the Regolit (or is the Regolit a version of their version..) in all types of colors, textures and designs. But still, I have the Regolit shining above my bed. I'm falling asleep and waking up with this Swedish piece of design. I could buy another version of it, or a complete different lamp, but I'd like to pull an IKEA hack on this one. I'm not the first to try, so I can get inspired by some of the other proud owners of this popular pendant. I also found pictures of look-a-likes or great ideas to try. Once I have pimped mine, I will show you! Here are some ideas on how to give your IKEA Regolit a makeover:

Guest Post - Lighting envy

Today I have a guest post for you. I'm happy to welcome Joanna from Arcadian Lighting with her post about lighting fixtures so beautiful or unusual, you might envy the owner. Enjoy!

Hi there! I’m Joanna, a guest blogger for Arcadian Lighting, a wonderful source for all thing lighting. I am passionate about art, lifestyle, literature and interior design.
Luckily, my work focuses on these topics so I am in perpetual heaven with my job. I love to share the blog posts I create with readers like you.

Thanks to Live2like for letting me share some of my favorite light fixtures today. Lighting acts as one of the most important elements of a room’s décor. Not only for their practical side, but for their decorative side as well. They often create a grand focal point, filling the space between the furnishings and the ceiling. If I could, I would collect chandeliers, I love them almost as much as chairs! The following light fixtures definitely give me lighting envy. The majority of them--glorious works of art. Which is your favorite?

Flower power..!

I took a photo of my favorite flowers in a jar today. They were standing on my dinner table screaming for attention. I Instagrammed this picture together. It's to celebrate the start of June, the lovely weather and the fact that my thesis is finally ready..! All printed and ready to hand in on Monday. Now I finally have more time to finish and show some of the projects I'm working on in the house: A vintage memo board, a make-over of my two Chinese wedding cabinets, painting the dining chairs and many many more..! And I now have time to clean out the basement so I can find the paintbrushes I'll need...
