How to brighten up your (too) small balcony

It´s springtime, so I need some inspiration to brighten up my two small balconies. I have just moved in to my apartment last November so both my balconies are still really boring.
I have already cleaned them up a bit, but this is how they look right now:

There´re both terribly small, and I don´t want to spend a lot of money on it. Not just because I don´t have a lot at the moment, also because there are so many other things I want to buy and since the entire world is having a crisis I thought I´d join in with cutting my budget. So I need some inspiration to make my tiny balconies look nice and lively without having to spend a lot of money.

Chalkboard recipes

Chalkboard and awful screeching sounds are two things connected. But not only awful sounds or 1+1=2 memories can come of chalkboard. It is actually really handy and can make objects look really original or hip. I found some great ideas to use chalkboard in an original way. It inspired me and I will soon make them myself. Here are some wonderful inspirational chalkboard recipes:

On TheShabby Creek Cottage I found this easy way to make chalkboard labels. All you need is a can of chalkboard spray paint, some blank mailing labels, painter’s tape and a piece of cardboard. You tape the blank sheet of labels to the cardboard and you spray several light layers of paint on the labels. Remove the tape while the paint is still wet. Now let them dry and there are your chalkboard labels. You can cut out any shape you like or use a punch.

Fork it!

I found some great ways to use a fork. Yes, that may sound a little silly, but there´s more to a fork than you might think.
Not only can you use it to eat your home cooked meals, you can use it to hold your cards or photo’s, turn it into a wall hook or make a bracelet out of it. Interested? Here are some of the most creative ways to use a fork:

Dreaming of a wingback chair...

Ever since I saw the Disney movie Up, I have a thing for wingback chairs. Remember the scene with Carl and Ellie sitting in their chairs? No?? Here’s a reminder:

The thing about Disney movies is: they make you laugh and cry within ninety minutes, no matter your age. Little children love the pictures and characters for how they move and how they talk, and grownups like the jokes, the storyline, funny characters and details of the movie. Up was a great example of it and I loved it. You instantly loved the little boy and wanted to hug this grumpy old man, just because of is grumpiness. You are sucked right into this great adventure and will surely dream about flying around the world with a hand full of colorful balloons.

I dreamt about being a shrunken old woman in a wingback chair sitting next to my even more shrunken old prince charming. But since that is going to take another fifty years (I hope) to actually be true I went looking for a modern wingback chair. One that is great for its design and acceptable in the house of a young-and-full-of-life person. One that makes everyone who sees it gasp for breath and ‘wow’ of its appearance.

And I found one..!
Here it is:

It’s designed by Tom Dixon and launched in 2007. It's inspired by the 18th Century British Gentleman’s Chair and it makes me want to get a book and stay in it for two hours..! (I cannot sit still for a very long time so I probably won't make it the full two hours...but that’s not the point..). The design of the British Gentleman's Chair makes you feel a little posh, like a real gentleman (or woman). The design, I think, looks luxurious. Therefore, like you probably would have guessed by now, I'm a big fan.!
But for now I have to settle with a picture of this lovely chair and a dream about sitting in a wingback chair with a book in my hands, hanging in the clouds, because of this huge pack of balloons flying me, this chair and our book, around the world..

What better place to start than at the beginning

I´ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but since there are already so many blogs to inspire and enjoy it just didn´t happen. But today it did. This blog is mainly to inspire myself and to keep me busy. It gives me the opportunity to share my findings and enthusiasm. It´s a collection of my likes, loves and inspiration. Starting with nothing with so much to find, now seems a little overwhelming but what better place to start than at the beginning...
